Ideas for food lovers

Line of cyclists

From soup sales to dinner parties, there are so many ways to incorporate food in to your fundraising. We've included a few of our favourites below.

Pancake and waffle sale/party

Perfect for those with a sweet tooth! Why not treat yourself and your friends to a pancake and waffle sale or party and help to transform people's lives around the world at the same time.

💡Practical Action's top tip: You could hold your sale or party at any time, but we think there's no better time than Pancake Day!

Come dine with me

This is the perfect fundraising idea for anyone who appreciates great food and spending time with friends and family! All that's left for you to decide is who you'll invite, your winning menu and the date for your fabulous evening. Bon appetite!

💡Practical Action's top tip: Need an idea for your exciting theme? What better theme could there be than donning the bright orange look and holding a Practical Action themed evening? We have free t-shirts to give out too! Get in touch to order yours.

Easter egg hunt

An Easter egg hunt is a great way to celebrate Easter and get kids involved with fundraising. Why not charge a small fee for participation and help lift people out of poverty.

💡Practical Action's top tip: Keep it simple, or if you want to go big, you could promote your event in the local newspaper and/or on social media.

Pumpkin carving and soup sale

Great for Halloween! Why not hold a pumpkin carving party? You could charge people for a pumpkin and watch the wonderful creations unfold. Pumpkin soup sales are also fun for Halloween and will certainly help to warm up the cockles.

💡Practical Action's top tip: Go one better and challenge your friends to create the best Practical Action themed pumpkin. Send us your pictures to get the chance to see your grand creation in our "Small World" magazine.

Live below the line (5 day challenge)

Could you live below the line, with just £1 a day to spend on all your food and drink? Now we know we said these ideas were for food fanatics, but we challenge you to see if you can come up with some imaginative ways to make the most of your money. Check out the Live Below the Line wikipedia page for more information about this challenge.

💡Practical Action's top tip: Recognise World Hunger Day in May by going one step further and hold a Come Dine Below the Line themed evening. You'll only have £1 to feed all your guests though, so you'll need to think outside the box.

However you decide to fundraise for us, we’ll support you every step of the way. Please get in touch with us at to let us know your fundraising plans and for more information.
