Housing
- Training of masons and beneficiaries on roof construction in Vauniya district.
- Project planning for ASB phase 2 of the housing project implemented in Vauniya district.
Renewable energy
- Discussion with the Minster of Environment about pilot testing the cook stove and human power generation from the bicycle
- Pico hydro installation at Hirikatuoya in Belihuloya Forest Department camping site
- A presentation for school children about cooks stoves and bicycle for power generation
Livelihood development
- Livelihood development plans developed with Village Development Committee representatives from 05 villages in Batticalao district was handed over to local government authority in the district.
- A training on home gardening for community groups from 5 villages in Batticalao and an exposure visit to a home garden site in Dambulla.
Infrastructure
- Rehabilitation work on irrigation in Kadiraweli irrigation scheme in Batticalao district is continuing
- Work with conflict affected communities from the northern province
- Scoping visit to Vanni district
Disaster risk reduction
- Continuing work on developing:
- South Asia Disaster Report
- Decentralized disaster risk reduction manual
Natural resource management
- Start the research project on “Rural Entrepreneurship in Post Conflict Context – a Case Study of Agribusiness Sector in Baticalao District.”
Communications
- Workshop for provincial media correspondents from the eastern province on reporting climate change.
Janathakshan
- Follow up meeting with Vidatha Centre Managers from the eastern province.
- Meeting with the Deputy Minister of Plantation & industries to discuss the possibility of linking up.
